Global Shopping, Local Prices: The "Buy For Me" Experience
A personal shopping app designed to shop cheaper from other countries
Israeli shoppers wanted access to Turkish retailers like Zara, where identical products are often around 50% cheaper, but getting them was difficult. Market research surfaced three barriers:
intimidating shipping and customs processes (or even denial of entry of purchased goods),
unpredictable duties that could erase the savings, and
high shipping costs when ordering single items from different stores.
I designed Buy For Me as a personal shopper app to remove all three.
The Tax-Free Tracker
Users paste a product link and describe the size, color, and other details they want, and the app builds the order automatically.
A real-time calculator tracks the cart total against Israel’s import tax-free threshold. I designed the logic behind the limit buffer, along with visual cues that signal when a user is approaching the ceiling. This lets them add items to maximize savings without triggering duties.
Tracking an Order from Another Country
Ordering from another country means handing money to a process you can’t see, so I designed tracking to keep users informed at every step. Each order moves through clear stages, with an items-received counter showing how much of the order has reached the personal shoppers. If something goes wrong, such as an item being out of stock, the order list shows the cancellation reason and a one-tap chat with support.
A Shopping Corridor Between Turkey and Israel
We launched the Turkey-to-Israel corridor, giving users access to premium brands at roughly half the usual cost. A process that once meant planning a trip to Turkey or asking a friend to buy something became a 10-minute shopping session on a mobile device. The tax tracker also reduced the sticker shock of unexpected customs fees, which helped build trust and encourage repeat orders.
